    My retirement from Twitter

Posted in Twitter at 7:28 on Thursday, February 17th, 2011 by Mr. Rant

It’s with a sad voice and wavering lip that I’m announcing my retirement from Twitter.

I’ve been thinking over the past few days that it’s time I ended this love affair and bid you all farewell, my reasons for doing this are twofold.

Primarily, it comes down to that I really haven’t got the free time now to blog let alone tweet and sustain a good conversation.

We as a business will continue to use Twitter as a promotional tool, something we’ve been doing for nearly two years now.

Secondly, it’s important to note that I’ve made this decision because it suits me. In recent times I’ve been on Twitter now and then when I’ve felt like something needed to be said.

I’m grateful to have met and spoken to some great people and I wish you all the best in whatever you have in your lives.

This blog will as ever continue, but I won’t be on Twitter.

I’m not ruling out a return later. Special events on Twitter are always fun.

For now it’s goodbye, see you soon and farewell.

    Councillors

Not the political type but rather the emotional type.

I’ve always a negative attitude towards them, to be honest most of them are useless.

The problem stems in that they try to understand your position by using things they learnt in a classroom rather than through their own personal trials.

Personally, I can’t see how they’d be able to understand when they have no personal experience of an issue which is wide ranging.

    Some things you can’t learn.

War, huh, what is it good for?

Posted in Thoughts on Things... at 8:37 on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 by Mr. Rant

War is a natural human trait, it’s in our nature to be possessive over our borders and possessions.  Since time began people have gone to war, and fought side by side with comrades and enemies alike.

Currently the UK is involved in two wars, we all know which they are. Iraq is a sticky subject which causes conjecture and dispute amongst those who have an opinion.

Personally I feel the war was justified in that the removal of a tyrannical government cannot be a bad thing, however with the inevitable death and destruction it brings it’s natural that in two-thousand and eleven we question its moral basis.

The problem lies in both sides fighting the war. You loose soldiers on both sides of the fence.

Now, I’m not going to sit here and berate the bravey of those soldiers who fight for freedom and peace, it takes guts to go to war and follow orders that might mean you die, but these soldiers know the risk they take going to war, and no matter what you say so do their families.

We, as the people of a country at war need to show them respect but keep in mind that, no matter how you put it, a soldier at war is fulfilling his duty and completing the job he signed up for, and unfortunately death is a hazard of the job.

    People are too senstive

Posted in Thoughts on Things... at 8:10 on Saturday, February 5th, 2011 by Mr. Rant

There I said it.  People are too sensitive.  The internet is a great place for discussion, chat and also promotion, and yes I will admit that’s what I use it for most.  Since I started this blog I’ve been non-actively partaking in self promotion most of it via Twitter.

You see I don’t promote this blog at all and the footfall of hits comes mainly through Google searches and also via searches done on the social network site Twitter.  For my purposes it’s ideal, I don’t particularly care if you want to follow me either here or on Twitter, this website would still exist even if Twitter didn’t.

I have a problem with people being sensitive online, yes we have feelings and words can hurt but I have never set out to actively upset anyone online.  What’s the point? There isn’t one.  If you read the About the Rant page written when this website was first built, it says that I will not apologise for my comments, and I stand by that.  I don’t think people get the whole idea of free speech, promotion and being able to say what ever you want and that really annoys me.

I have made some great friends via the internet and they’re lovely people, it just irritates me that people get extremely het up over the most trivial of events.  Personally I bowed out of this website for a period for personal and legal reasons.

You see when you write an edgy article that berates someone, you have to expect some comeback from it, but alas, it has never been the intention of this website to cause ructions between people and if it has I will apologise for that, there’s a difference in writing something upsetting and writing something edgy.  It’s a fine line but I’ve always attempted to do it well.  You will find that a lot of what I write is written from an almost comical point of view, and the if that causes offence there is nothing I can do.

It’s not about upsetting people, that’s not the intention, it’s about writing from my point of view and if you want to read it feel free otherwise, I’m not keeping you here, you have to remember that I invest a lot of time in this and other websites I run and I do it because I enjoy it, not because I have to.

I would just like for once, to have a nice simple day where people don’t fly off the hook at the merest thing.

Maybe I’m in the wrong business if it’s starting to get me?
