How can a website be addictive?

Posted in Thoughts on Things... at 1:14 on Thursday, July 31st, 2008 by Mr. Rant

Very easily it seems. Firstly I must say that the only reason on found the website in question is because I’ve sold out and bought an iPhone 3G.

The website of which I speak is Twitter, you may not have heard of it, but the purpose of the site is relatively hard to describe. Twitter is basically there for you to update your status, what your doing or where you are, its highly addictive!

    Long live Twitter!

Another disaster for the British Tourist Industry…

Posted in Tragedies at 23:56 on Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 by Mr. Rant

I must say that recently has not been the best time for the tourist industry in this country; firstly people aren’t going away at the moment, due to the Credit Crunch, of course this shouldn’t be a factor with regard to UK based holidays, however it seems to be the case which of course makes life very difficult for the UK resorts, such as Weston-Super-Mare (WSM) which yesterday suffered yet another mighty blow to its business.

With Monday came an awful disaster the much loved pier at WSM was raised to the ground (I never understood that phrase, but it’s fitting so I shall use it). Much to the dismay of every single Brummie, the pavilion built in the mid thirties was utterly destroyed by the ferocious fire which ravished the pier. I was shocked, truly and suddenly to the core; that pier was a family haunt for years each holiday, and to lose it in such a way has been truly disastrous. You must remember dear reader, that for most of us; things such as WSM’s pier formed a major part of our childhood right into adulthood.

Until we know the cause of this event all we can do is hope that it can be rebuilt, hope and pray that a savior is in the offing.

    Cliques on Public Forums.

Posted in Thoughts on Things... at 1:07 on Thursday, July 10th, 2008 by Mr. Rant

To my knowledge and understanding a public forum is just that. A place where the public can make a discursive effort to air their problems, comments and concerns. However, this does not seem to be the case with many so called Public forums.

In my opinion many of the forums on line are now only open to those who sit at their PC’s 24/7 and have the time to post all the time on the smallest of issues. Grow up. Go out and actually make a difference instead of making it online.

Face to face discussion is dying lets at least try and revive it.
