    Steve Jobs dies

Posted in Thoughts on Things... at 8:46 on Thursday, October 6th, 2011 by Mr. Rant

It’s a sad day for the world of Technology, the genius and visionary Steve Jobs has died at 56.

Steve’s skill, guidance, and incredible foresight made Apple what it is today and provided us all with products and gadgets that are his memory.

We’d like to pass our sympathies on to his families and all that knew this incredible man.

    Rest In Peace.

    Councillors

Not the political type but rather the emotional type.

I’ve always a negative attitude towards them, to be honest most of them are useless.

The problem stems in that they try to understand your position by using things they learnt in a classroom rather than through their own personal trials.

Personally, I can’t see how they’d be able to understand when they have no personal experience of an issue which is wide ranging.

    Some things you can’t learn.

War, huh, what is it good for?

Posted in Thoughts on Things... at 8:37 on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 by Mr. Rant

War is a natural human trait, it’s in our nature to be possessive over our borders and possessions.  Since time began people have gone to war, and fought side by side with comrades and enemies alike.

Currently the UK is involved in two wars, we all know which they are. Iraq is a sticky subject which causes conjecture and dispute amongst those who have an opinion.

Personally I feel the war was justified in that the removal of a tyrannical government cannot be a bad thing, however with the inevitable death and destruction it brings it’s natural that in two-thousand and eleven we question its moral basis.

The problem lies in both sides fighting the war. You loose soldiers on both sides of the fence.

Now, I’m not going to sit here and berate the bravey of those soldiers who fight for freedom and peace, it takes guts to go to war and follow orders that might mean you die, but these soldiers know the risk they take going to war, and no matter what you say so do their families.

We, as the people of a country at war need to show them respect but keep in mind that, no matter how you put it, a soldier at war is fulfilling his duty and completing the job he signed up for, and unfortunately death is a hazard of the job.

    People are too senstive

Posted in Thoughts on Things... at 8:10 on Saturday, February 5th, 2011 by Mr. Rant

There I said it.  People are too sensitive.  The internet is a great place for discussion, chat and also promotion, and yes I will admit that’s what I use it for most.  Since I started this blog I’ve been non-actively partaking in self promotion most of it via Twitter.

You see I don’t promote this blog at all and the footfall of hits comes mainly through Google searches and also via searches done on the social network site Twitter.  For my purposes it’s ideal, I don’t particularly care if you want to follow me either here or on Twitter, this website would still exist even if Twitter didn’t.

I have a problem with people being sensitive online, yes we have feelings and words can hurt but I have never set out to actively upset anyone online.  What’s the point? There isn’t one.  If you read the About the Rant page written when this website was first built, it says that I will not apologise for my comments, and I stand by that.  I don’t think people get the whole idea of free speech, promotion and being able to say what ever you want and that really annoys me.

I have made some great friends via the internet and they’re lovely people, it just irritates me that people get extremely het up over the most trivial of events.  Personally I bowed out of this website for a period for personal and legal reasons.

You see when you write an edgy article that berates someone, you have to expect some comeback from it, but alas, it has never been the intention of this website to cause ructions between people and if it has I will apologise for that, there’s a difference in writing something upsetting and writing something edgy.  It’s a fine line but I’ve always attempted to do it well.  You will find that a lot of what I write is written from an almost comical point of view, and the if that causes offence there is nothing I can do.

It’s not about upsetting people, that’s not the intention, it’s about writing from my point of view and if you want to read it feel free otherwise, I’m not keeping you here, you have to remember that I invest a lot of time in this and other websites I run and I do it because I enjoy it, not because I have to.

I would just like for once, to have a nice simple day where people don’t fly off the hook at the merest thing.

Maybe I’m in the wrong business if it’s starting to get me?

    It’s the little things…

Posted in Thoughts on Things... at 5:13 on Thursday, January 13th, 2011 by Mr. Rant

Do you ever think that’s it’s the little things in life that make it fun?  Sometimes there are just some silly little things that make you smile and make you happy for that minute second and induce a feeling of nothing else matters.

I do, dear reader get those feeling from time to time, it’s funny to think that something as simple at being let out at a junction or finding a pound in your pocket just when you needed it can immediately improve your day and make you a smiling fool.

Miserable? Never, well just some of the time, well most of the time, well 99.5% of the time, but for some reason those moments come along just when needed and they make your day; and yes I did just have one.

    Simple things eh?

    It’s all a load of rubbish… (Really)

Posted in An Objective Opinion & Anger Level 4 & Politics at 16:15 on Monday, January 3rd, 2011 by Mr. Rant

A healthy start to 2011 you said, a brand new year you muttered, but nothing has really changed has it?

    It definitely hasn’t in Birmingham.

We seem to have stepped back in time to the mid seventies and began our very own local winter of discontent. You see, our rubbish hasn’t been collected in nearly three weeks now, and would you have guessed that it’s all due to pay decreases causing strikes by the Bin Men – sorry Refuse Collectors here?

    Uncollected Rubbish

    Uncollected Rubbish

Sound familiar? Well it should, we’ve been here before, many a time and once again the Bin Men – ugh Refuse Collectors are holding us to ransom by attempting to force their hand. Annoying? Yes. Wrong? Unfortunately not for Birmingham City Council. I’m actually with the Bin Men, Er dammit Refuse Collectors on this one. I believe strongly that you should fight to keep what you have and if that’s a job paying good money for a manual work then you should do it, shout it from the rooftops and make everyone aware of the semi-political quandary you’ve been placed in.

However, (wait for it, the slightly edgy part is coming) when you earn about twice as much as the average worker, and are payed by public taxes (in this case council tax) should you be moaning that much? I figure that it would be a far worse situation if the local government turned around and sacked you because you cost too much to employ as is likely to happen with my job. So stop moaning? Is that a better option than losing you’re job altogether? Call me cynical (You’re cynical – Thanks) but who has the right to actively annoy the wider community?

I’d like nothing more than to have my rubbish collected in line with the promises from the Council, Can you manage that? Just this once…
