    The Olympics

Posted in In the Summertime at 19:38 on Thursday, July 26th, 2012 by Mr. Rant

In less than twenty-four hours the London 2012 Olympics begin, I’m not looking forward to it, it’s not that I don’t like sport, I enjoy some sport, I even like some of the Olympic sports, so that’s not the problem. What I don’t agree with is how much has been made of the whole event. It’s been touted for seven years, and we’ve had to out up with it.

We’ve had to listen day in and out about how it’s been planned, how hard people have worked to out it together and how much it means to people, I don’t begrudge people enjoying the Olympics but they would benefit from realising that not everyone enjoys watching people run, jump, skip and hop they’re way around a track.

I’m sick of hearing about it now. I can’t wait for it to be over so we can all get back to normal and remember that we have lives that haves to be lived. Already on the opening day, we had the mess that was the flags of North Korea, I’m asking myself what else can we do to ruin this event, something that should be a big thing for those that enjoy that kind of thing has already been overshadowed by something so silly that the media felt it was the biggest story of the year.

I’m hoping that the next two weeks fly by, and then it will be over and we won’t have to hear about it anymore.

    Warm weeks…

Posted in In the Summertime at 4:07 on Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 by Mr. Rant

Hasn’t it been a scorcher this week. Very, very warm, of course this has caused enormous amounts of agitation – it’s not just the head that is causing this madness, it’s also fact that I have now cut down to just about two fags a day, which is pretty good considering I usually smoke a hell of a lot more than that.

Anyway, we’re now into that time of year where we start to see the disappearance of happiness for me at least.

This week already, sweating like a dog has been a key event.   It’s not a good thing when you walk into a shop pouring with sweat and getting a funny look from the mythical never sweating creatures, adorned with beauty in their air conditioned wondrous palace of things.  Mix all this with an iPhone that takes a week to sync and also the lack of ‘Macness’ in my life at the moment, you can imagine that this geek is struggling to maintain a happy outlook.

Towards the end of this week I should start to roll out some new themes for this site.  I’ve been thinking about doing a bright theme for a while now, so that’s something I’m looking at, as with all the themes on this website you will be able to pick your favourite from the theme switcher drop down, it will then be saved and used every time you make a visit.

Its a bank holiday, and it rained..

Posted in In the Summertime at 20:31 on Sunday, August 24th, 2008 by Kris

You usually think of a holiday as being wam summer sun and quiet restings on a beach somewhere in Spain.

But an English summer holiday is different. Yes we have some sun but ninety percent of the time, rain is the key constituant.

That of course and the fat idiot trolling his way through the entire food chain; but it has to come with chips or at least with a lot of suagr.

It’s interesting when you think that in modern society we haven’t cast out these oafs in a mass cull.

Maybe just maybe one day that might happen…

    Shiney Happy People…

Posted in In the Summertime at 14:49 on Monday, June 9th, 2008 by Mr. Rant

What a day it is today in Good Ol’ Birmingham! Warm is an understatement, its fucking boiling. You can gauge how hot it is by how much your shoes melt when they hit the floor, trainers are the best for this, you end up sticking to it, like a fly to its death.

So yes as you can tell the sun has gone to my head. It’s a joy to be sitting in the shade with my laptop outdoors. Although the battery really does leave a lot to be desired, its lasting thirty mintues, and i find my self doing my work more quickly to get it done before it sleeps.
