To Mask or Not to Mask?

Posted in Anger Level 3 & Public Information & Thoughts on Things... at 12:19 on Monday, July 12th, 2021 by Mr. Rant

In case you don’t live in the England, and the likely-hood is that if you are reading this you do, there are some changes on the horizon next week which could potentially change the direction of the pandemic. The changes that are being considered by England’s Government essentially handover the responsibility to protect others to the individual, rather than making it policy and law to wear a mask in a public place. Now, there is a balance here that needs to be struck, however there is a statistical and medical evidence that proves the link between transmission of viruses and wearing a mask.

Wearing a mask doesn’t just protect you, in-fact, the protection for others is what the wearing of a mask does.

So what will you do when the so-called Freedom Day comes? Will you protect others or will you be selfish and not wear a mask because it removes your freedom of choice? In my opinion, if wearing a mask makes you feel like you are loosing your freedom of choice, then you really need to examine your life choices because protecting others should be at the top of your list as a human and a citizen.

I will continue to wear my mask and social distance because even the slightest thought of harming someone else is abhorrent.

    2020, what a gasser.

Posted in Public Information at 19:30 on Sunday, May 10th, 2020 by Mr. Rant

It’s been a hell of a couple of months.

Life has changed dramatically worldwide for millions of people.

Life has ended for over a hundred-thousand people.

Life is fragile for over 7 billion people.

Dominic ‘shitting’ Raab has been on the telly. Let’s just let that sink in for a second.

I can only speak for the UK as it’s where I am but the public has been told to socially isolate (I hate the phrase) and that’s the correct thing to do. British people like their liberty, yes we bang on about fighting wars for it but this is not just about you, me or anyone else. It’s about us all, and the many, many people who have died due to Covid 19.

We owe it to them to stick to what we’re being asked to do. The UK government was slow on the uptake and we do have a higher death rate when compared to other countries. However, I strongly believe that drawing comparisons between countries is not wise, mainly because it’s not a fucking game, whether you have a high death rate or not, right now it’s not the time to be focusing on that. Lets stop the transmission and review this later.

This is literally life and death.

    Stay the fuck at home.

    Guess what… It’s raining…

    Global warming.

More like global wetness or global sogginess.  The past three weeks have seen the wettest on record for the UK, we’ve had strong wind (not just after the sprouts), heavy rain, and trees frequently being blown over, so if you haven’t been blown to oblivion yet, let’s hope it is coming to an end soon.  It doesn’t look like it is.  I think we need to, however just calm down a little about the recent semi-extreme weather.

Let me explain, indulge me for a moment.

As a human, living in England, we have a tendency to over estimate the effect of weather on us.  It’s not that we over exaggerate the weather, we just don’t seem to be able to cope with it.  We seem to have this inability to cope when we have a storm or rather unexpected deluges which admittedly have led to me starting to build an ark, but alas, has it really been that bad?

It has for some, some poor fellows have had all they own washed away.  Now, you’d think that they would be in receipt of some form of benefit or help from the government.  No.  They have had nothing, and yet we send over millions of pounds worth of aid to far away civilisations to help them after a natural disaster. Lets not start to imagine that I am trying to play down the awful things that have happened around the world, but I would like to see some help for people here, after all they are in need of some aid too.

I often close these posts with a question and yet again I am going to do it.  Should we now, give some aid to those who need it here?

The beginning of the end for the web…

Posted in Anger Level 4 & Breaking News & Censorship & Public Information & Technology & Tragedies at 16:43 on Saturday, January 21st, 2012 by Mr. Rant

This week saw widespread blackouts on some prominent websites, including this one.

The blackouts were in protest to the now, possibly defunct Sopa and Pipa movements chaired in the US law system. The bill had now been dropped or at least put on the backburner for now, but the Internet is changing.

On Wednesday, the file sharing website MegaUpload was shut down by the FBI and it’s creators arrested and it’s content destroyed, the people behind the action was once again the MPA and the copyright Nazi’s.

Now I hate people stealing my work as much as the next person but the US administration is going after the wrong people. They’re fighting the site owners, data centre’s and hosting companies and accusing them of breaking the law, when they didn’t put the content there it was the users who did.

Yes, you can argue that they should be more proactive and stop users uploading copyrighted material but it’s not as easy as that.

Take this website, the servers are US based so therefore we fall under their jurisdiction and have to adhere to their laws, however its developed and ran in the UK so has to adhere to the UK’s laws too, so where does it stop?

Do we need to adhere to everything to keep everyone happy? In short, yes but that’s practically impossible.

Just expect more sites to disappear over the next few months as the governments fight a loosing battle, and a backlash is likely to rise.

    Mr. Rant’s Christmas Message 2009

Posted in Public Information at 2:08 on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009 by Mr. Rant

    Hello again dear reader,

I have once again endeavoured to write a Christmas message not filled with hate and aggression but with joy and frivolity, but looking at my notes this certainly isn’t the case.  For me this has been an interesting year, both for this website and in my life.  I’ve started new ventures, met some great people through twitter, became even more obsessed with it and started to write more articles that are less angry, but still the purpose of this site remains the same.

For 2010, the plan is to expand the site more and also make sure that I continue with the pod-casting, I appreciate that they aren’t all that regular at the moment and I’m sorry that there won’t be a Christmas edition, I just simply don’t have the free time at the moment.  I’ve barely found time to post in the past few months. I will be making a change in this area.  I have plenty of ideas of what to write about in the next few months, so you can expect a post every week from now onwards!

Well this year has been a funny one, not much has happened per-say, I mean the world is still revolving and the sun still shines but nothing of merit has occurred, except maybe Rage Against the Machine getting to number one in the U.K for Christmas something which I am incredibly pleased about.  I dislike over produced pop-crap so much it make my blood boil.  I don’t think I could stand to listen to Joe McElderry for any longer than thirty seconds without wanting to extract my eyes with a blunt penguin (yes I imagine that would hurt a fair bit). I truly believe that RATM getting to number one is a triumph for music and proof that the Public are not as stupid as we think they are.  Of course, if you do like X-Factor you probably are a bit ‘Special’.

We shall see what 2010 brings, it’s going to be an interesting year.  So sit back, relax, have a drink on me and enjoy/endure the season of goodwill with just that.

    Merry Christmas

    The problem is..

Posted in Public Information & The Arts at 5:41 on Sunday, March 22nd, 2009 by Mr. Rant

You’re stupid.  Over the past few days the silliness of people has hit me like a train.  We’re getting dumber.  It would seem at an alarming rate.  Gone are the days that we could all string together an intelligible sentence and gone are the days that people read for recreation.  I love to read; anything in fact.  I love to peruse a book with a nice cup of coffee preferably in a Starbucks.  (I’m going for sponsorship by name dropping; or at least a free cappuccino).

I think people really need to start to read again.  There are so many wonderful books to read out there and that they’re not even expensive, you can even get them free from this place called a library; you have t0 return them though.  Last week I was on the train taking one of my usual jaunts down to Cheltenham.  Just a few months ago you would see scores of people reading on the train enjoying the brief moment of downtime before their lives started up again in a raucous fashion.  On this train journey there was none of that.  Just a carriage full of nothing.  People staring blankly into the distance as the train sped on it’s journey through the country side.

I like to see people reading.  It gives me faith that the human race is not in a slow decline into nothingness.  I beg of you please get a book and read it.  Enjoy it.  Make the pictures in your head as you read the words on the page.
